University Centre Rotherham announced as headline sponsor for Barnsley and Rotherham Business Awards
The 2018 Business Awards will be sponsored by University Centre Rotherham; a new campus which plans to expand the degree and professional training courses currently offered by The RNN Group upon its completion later this year.
University Centre Rotherham (UCR) will house state-of-the-art facilities and offer accredited degree courses taught by lecturers with industry experience in sectors such as Teaching, Childcare, Engineering, Business and Health and Social Care to name a few.
Andrew Denniff, Chief Executive of Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber, said:
“We are delighted to announce University Centre Rotherham as our headline sponsors for the 2018 Chamber Awards; an event which highlights the incredible work businesses within the region undertake each year.
“With our entries opening at the start of June, I would encourage even more businesses and individuals to enter this year in order to receive recognition of their contribution to the local business economy.”
Jana Checkley, Director for Higher Education and Skills for the RNN Group, said:
“UCR is a very exciting development for Rotherham and the local area and will provide many benefits to local people, businesses and the economy in general. It’s fitting that UCR will headline the Business Awards, as we hope to work with many employers to shape the provision we offer in order to develop people with the higher technical skills needed to bridge the skills gap.
“By 2020, 50 courses will be running at UCR, with 1,000 additional students in our first five years. UCR will offer students access to expert teaching, degrees accredited by top universities and excellent links with industry.”
Entries for the 2018 Business Awards open on Monday 4th June and will see thirteen awards up for grabs, including two brand new categories: Marketing Campaign of the Year and Innovation in Manufacturing. Businesses will also battle it out to be crowned Most Promising New Business and Business of the Year and the new recipient of the Charity of the Year will also be announced on the night.
All businesses with an “S” postcode as well as members of Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber are eligible to enter the awards.
Amongst other sponsors joining UCR to support the Business Awards this year are Chamber Skills Solutions, Enzygo, Finance For Enterprise, Fortem, Gibson Booth Business Solutions & Insolvency, Julie Kenny, Russell Richardson, Steelphalt (Harsco) and XPO Logistics.
