The Ask Zoe Small Business Awards

From crisis to confidence: Award-winning Yorkshire marketing and events firm paves the way for growth and celebration for small business owners in 2024 in Barnsley.

Did you know that there are 5.7 million small businesses in the UK, and SMEs in Yorkshire and the Humber have grown by 4% between 2019 and 2023.

This boom equates to a substantial increase of more than 6,500 businesses, pushing the region’s total to over 158,000 SMEs in Yorkshire.

Meaning Yorkshire now leads the North of England in small business growth since the pandemic. This is why Zoe Wadsworth founder of Ask Zoe, wanted to celebrate small business owners by hosting The Ask Zoe Small Business Awards in December 2024, in her hometown of Barnsley.

Ask Zoe, specialises in marketing and events strategy, to help boost SME’s lead generation and growth strategy.

In its success, the awards generated over seventy-five nominations across twelve award categories in Yorkshire and North Nottinghamshire, in support of The Children’s Hospital Charity based in Sheffield in memory of Oliver George Howe.

Oliver George Howe was a local boy and, was 8 years old when he passed away in February 2023 from a brain tumour and is the godson of Zoe Wadsworth. Ensuring these awards not only give back to the small business community but that of a local hospital and charity too.

Ask Zoe joined forces with small businesses across the region to provide an awards celebration with a difference, that not only spotlighted small businesses through each award category but through sponsorships, community and through championing everyone’s success in 2024.

Company founder Zoe Wadsworth said: ‘One of our key values at Ask Zoe is to give back every year to the small business community who work so hard to service their customers and grow their business year on year.

One of Oliver’s greatest achievements was his fundraising too, so it felt fitting to offer a platform to celebrate the small business community but also to continue Oliver’s legacy on the day, by raising awareness and funds for The Children’s Hospital at the amount of £888.00. Providing a local event to celebrate local business in memory of a local hero, who’s legacy will continue to help more children through The Children’s Hospital Charity.’

Ask Zoe repeatedly champions small business owners and gives back to the local community, as being your business champion is at the forefront of their business activity.

However, The Ask Zoe Small Business Awards would not have been possible without our headline sponsor Purple Pebble People, Award Sponsors, Partners and Supporters on the day, so thank you for coming together to champion small business and charity in Yorkshire.
