THE SOURCE BACKS REGIONAL ECONOMIC SURVEY TO INFLUENCE INDUSTRIAL STRATEGY

Hundreds of businesses across the Sheffield City Region are sharing their views on Theresa May’s Industrial Strategy to shape local and national business support.

The Quarterly Economic Survey, sponsored by The Source, asks business people to rate the importance of elements in the strategy from ‘investing in science, research and innovation’ to ‘creating the right local institutions to support people, industries and places.’

The results will be used by the region’s Local Enterprise Partnership and four Chambers of Commerce to inform regional policy makers and national government and shape regional and national business support to boost the local economy.

“We work closely with hundreds of businesses throughout the year and hear about the opportunities and challenges they face to succeed and grow. It’s important that regional decision-makers and national government have their ears close to the ground to know how real businesses in South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire are faring so the right support structures can be put in place,” says Dale Robinson, Head of Sales, Marketing and PR of The Source – a Sheffield Chamber member business.

The survey is run by the Sheffield City Region’s Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and Chambers of Commerce to create a snapshot of how the regional economy performed over the last three months and to make a forecast for the next quarter.

The results for quarter one will be released at a free QES Breakfast event on 5 May 2017 at The Source. There will be a keynote speech on the Government’s Industrial Strategy and a lively debate concerning its impact on local business and the economy.
