Howells Boost Matrimonial Department with Addition of New Family Law Specialist
At a time where many law firms in the region are struggling to grow their matrimonial department, Howells are thrilled to be expanding theirs.
In October, not did Howells celebrating their 40th anniversary and receive a Salute to Business at the Barnsley and Rotherham Business Awards, but they are celebrating another addition to their family law team by introducing highly experienced matrimonial specialist Louise Maden.
Rotherham born, Louise began her career at Dibb & Clegg in 1995 working as a legal secretary supporting the Family Law Partner.
For the past 13 years Louise has specialised in matrimonial law, running her own caseload and she is well known and respected locally.
“I’m a Rotherham girl at heart, and I’ve always been passionate about helping the local families” Louise said “I’ve never worked in any other area of law or in any other area of the country as I love the area and the people.”
Louse joins Howells Solicitors as a matrimonial specialist, supporting families to rebuild their future following divorce or separation. Louise has a strong background of – cases which involve children and she can often be found representing clients in the local courts where necessary.
“I’ve always worked on family cases, looking after families when there are at their most vulnerable at traumatic times.” Louise explains “There is nothing more motivating than helping families to plan and rebuild their future.
“I had no hesitation in joining Howells as I’ve always known them as a leader in the legal sector and always known their reputation of being a ‘down to earth’, but professional firm and having a caring ethos – I knew I would fit in here.”
Louise also has a reputation in the region of specialising in cases which involve both victims of domestic abuse.
Louise is a former committee member of the ‘Rotherham Women’s Counselling Service” (now known as Rotherham Abuse Counselling Service) and volunteered in the drop in centre for Rotherham Rise providing free legal advice.
“It’s not only female clients I have supported” says Louise,’. Many men are victims of false accusations of domestic violence and I have been involved in cases where we have defended allegations that have been made unfairly..
“It’s also pleasing to see the law changing for Dads, recognising that Dads are equally as important as Mums in a child’s life.”
Louise also has experience in dealing with divorce and separation matters, and is disappointed on the recent news of how Brexit will affect the new ‘No Fault Divorce’ law.
“We were hoping this was going to be passed through parliament. This would have made separation and divorce as amicable as possible which is important in order for families to rebuild their future, and it is especially important for families with children. I am hopeful we will see a change in the future”
To book a consultation with Louise, she is based the Howells Solicitors Rotherham Office and can be contacted by calling 01709 364000 or emailing [email protected]
