Good cause sought for new charity of the year
Make Your Mark UK is currently seeking nominations from local good causes to be considered as their next charity of the year. Make Your Mark UK helps businesses and charities to be better by offering training, coaching and consultancy. Founded in October 2017 by Mark Smith, the business has previously supported Rotherham Talking Newspapers, SCCCC and is currently helping Rotherham Abuse Counselling Service (Rothacs). Angela Toulson, Executive Officer for Rothacs charity of the year 2019/2020 said “ Mark has been great to us over the year offering support wherever he can anything from fundraising, promoting and raising our profile to working directly with our Trustees, supporting me and generally just checking in to see we are all ok…”
Mark Storey, CEO of charity SCCCC who benefited from the charity of the year partnership in 2018/2019 with Make Your Mark UK said “We have found Mark to be extremely professional, knowledgeable and helpful. His experience has shone through. With his assistance staff and Trustees have worked together to produce a new strategic plan for the organisation – a plan which has received buy-in throughout the organisation. With Mark’s tailored support, the charity has indeed been helped to be better.”
Organisations do not have to be a registered charity to apply to be considered as the next charity of the year but do have to be a voluntary or community group based in Yorkshire. Small or medium sized organisations are preferred to maximise the impact of the support the business can offer. Applications are now open with a view to the support starting in October 2020. Closing date for applications is 6pm on Sunday 6th September.
If successful, support from Make Your Mark UK could include: a modest donation and fundraising; promotion; coaching for a key member of staff or volunteer, pro bono support for a particular project or support with strategy development for example.
