Charity challenges Santa’s helpers to raise cash for kids this Christmas
Festive fundraisers are being encouraged to walk, jog, run or cycle 5K to raise money for the Rotherham Hospital and Community Charity this Christmas.
The charity is looking for individuals, schools, community groups and work colleagues to don their Santa hats and trainers to jingle all the way though its first Virtual Santa Jog for the National Elf Service between 6 and 12 December 2021.
The week-long event costs just £5 for adults to enter and £2 for children. All the money raised will enable the charity to fund the refurbishment of the Children’s Ward rooftop play area at Rotherham Hospital.
Suzanne Rutter, Charity Engagement and Development Manager, said: “December is a magical time of year and our biggest Christmas wish is that Santas of all ages will help us spread the festive spirit by taking part in our first ever Virtual Santa Jog. We hope it brings friends, families, neighbours, work friends, running groups and clubs together to do something fun for a good cause.
“You can take part any time throughout the week and in any way you wish – whether it’s a few laps of your playground, a walk around your office block or a woodland walk with your four-legged friends.
“We know that with gifts to buy, dinners with all the trimmings to plan and parties to attend, December can be an expensive month but your 5K challenge will cost just a few pounds to enter and the funds raised will be hugely beneficial to the children and young people we care for all year round. Our outdoor play area really needs some TLC, so get your Santa hats ready and help us make a difference.”
