Barnsley and Rotherham Businesses Triumph in the Sheffield City Region
Members from Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber last night triumphed at the Sheffield City Region Awards with four companies and individuals named best in the region.
The Sheffield City Region (SCR) Awards take winners from the regions four local Chamber’s Business Awards and the Derbyshire Times Award winners to go head to head to establish the top winners.
Winners from the 2015 Barnsley and Rotherham Business Awards took four of the evening’s top prizes, with a win for the director of last year’s Business of the Year, Simon Dennis of Palmer Construction.
Simon was awarded the SCR Business Person of the Year award, following his win of both the Business Person and Business of the Year award’s in 2015, this was a tough category grouping however Simon’s determination and drive inevitably made him stand out above other nominees.
The Cowlick Creamery won the SCR New Business of the Year award after last year’s win of the Most Promising New Business award. Their initial application detailed their creation of their unique flavours of ice cream, using locally grown ingredients, and followed a clear and concise growth strategy.
Finally, from the Barnsley and Rotherham Business Awards winners, Team Katalyst collected the award for CSR & Environment following their continual commitment and development of our young people and Building Product Solutions walked away with the SCR Business Growth award, after showing an impressing year on year growth in a depressed market.
Sheffield based company Parker PEGL took home the top prize on the night winning the overall award following their earlier win for Manufacturing.
Andrew Denniff said, “It was very apparent last night that the standard across the region continues to improve considerably. The success of some of our own members in Barnsley and Rotherham has to be applauded, but the real winners were all the businesses and individuals recognised at the event, all of who have contributed to the growing success of our region’s economy”.
