FLUX Rotherham Secures Arts Council England Funding Through March 2026

FLUX Rotherham is thrilled to announce that we have secured extended funding from Arts Council England, ensuring our continued work through March 2026. We are proud to be one of the 38 Creative People and Places projects dedicated to expanding access to creativity and culture across England.

We’re committed to creating art projects and events that are created with local communities. Our diverse programming includes festivals filled with music, dance, and outdoor arts experiences, as well as exhibitions, creative workshops, and engaging conversations. We invite everyone to join us in exploring and expressing their own creative ambitions, heritage, and identity.

Helen Jones, Programme Director of FLUX Rotherham, shared her excitement about the funding extension: ” We are delighted to receive this news and the ongoing support from Arts Council England. The extended funding will enable us to further engage with communities across Rotherham, who will continue to influence and shape the FLUX Rotherham programme through 2025 and 2026. Arts and Cultural activity has a profoundly positive impact on the people and places we work with.”

She added, “Rotherham is full of brilliant, imaginative people who share their passion for this place and their ideas for its future. While there is still much to be done, we are excited about the opportunity to collaborate with even more incredible people and partners. Together, we can make extraordinary things happen, bring additional funding to the area, and inspire more people to create, experience, and participate in exceptional arts events and activities.”

In 2023, Flux Rotherham and its partners engaged over 28,000 people through various events, with 11,400 individuals actively participating in a wide range of creative and cultural activities.

Here’s what attendees had to say:

“I really enjoyed seeing the diversity of families, children and people. It felt like a real connection of women from different communities, and I think it feels unusual to see this in my local area.”  [WOW Rotherham Festival, Rotherham Town Centre]

“It is fantastic to see this kind of exhibition and series of events come to/be put on in Rotherham. There is a bit of a void in terms of cultural and arts events of this scale in Rotherham which Flux and many others are trying to address. Thank you!” [Museum of the Moon, Rotherham Minster]

“Connected me back to my creativity and given me the relaxation, peace and confidence in myself again.” [Threads That Connect Us, NHS Wellbeing group]

Since 2012, Creative People and Places has brought together community, grassroots, voluntary and cultural organisations as partners to take the lead in choosing, creating, and taking part in creative and cultural activities that their local areas want and need.

38 Creative People and Places projects cover 55 local authority areas where involvement with creativity and culture is significantly below the national average – helping unlock the social and economic benefits of creativity and culture for more people in more places.  Coming together to share learning is a key part of the programme.

From 2012 to 2024, there have been over 15 million engagements with the national programme, involving over 1000 local partners – including sports clubs, housing associations, environmental organisations and businesses – all helping to put creativity at the heart of local communities;
