Your vintage trash could be treasure for Bluebell Wood Hospice

Someone’s old trash is always someone else’s treasure…

That’s the call from Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice who’ve discovered a sustainable way to turn vintage trash into cash to support local children and families.
The hospice, which has to raise over £4million every year to keep services running, has found of way of making money from the battered and broken bits and pieces its charity shops and eBay department cannot sell.

It has signed up to a charity service run by Vintage Cash cow, the Leeds-based buyers and sellers who use their industry knowledge to upcycle and find new owners for old and vintage items that might otherwise have ended up in the bin.

“We get a lot of vintage items donated that we’re sadly unable to sell because they may be damaged or broken,” said Sue Brown, the Bluebell Wood’s eBay administrator.

“Unfortunately we have to dispose of things such as broken cameras and costume jewellery, worn and tarnished silver-plate, bric-a-brac and ornaments.

“But now Vintage Cash Cow gives us another opportunity to turn what some would consider trash into much-needed cash for the hospice.”

The North Anston hospice and its charity shops are now appealing for vintage donations.

Sue said: “If you have things squirrelled away in the attic or the garage, anything left after house clearances, car-boots or jumble sales which looks vintage, don’t put it in the bin. Give it to us and give us a chance of getting it recycled.”

Cash Cow have a huge sorting room where vintage experts handpick items to send on to repairers, restorers and traders across the globe.

The hospice’s eBay team box up a batch of items and send them free of charge for a valuation which may then result in a sale.

Items can be taken to Bluebell Wood Hospice shops in Chesterfield, Chapeltown, Wombwell, Rotherham, Sheffield, Dinnington, Worksop and Hellaby, or dropped at hospice reception marked for the eBay team.
