“Our businesses communities continue to generate prosperity and opportunity so it’s only right that we support and shout about the fantastic things they are doing.
“Each year the calibre of applicants impresses our judges, and this pool of entrants was no different. All our finalists should be proud of their success in reaching this stage and we wish them the very best of luck.”
Lucy & Yak began life down under in 2017 in New Zealand, after hours of sewing on the beach, making tobacco pouches from old clothes which were sold to travellers. After a few years of travelling, Lucy and Chris came back to the UK, buying a van that they named ‘Yak’. To get by, Lucy and Chris sold vintage clothing from Yak, which is when they realised, they had an eye for fashion. So together they made 30 pairs of dungarees, which sold out in a matter of hours, they made 100 more and the same happened. Now, Lucy & Yak have a team of people working in their Barnsley warehouse and out of their newly built factory in India.
